Condoms remain the most effective means available to minimize getting an STI, apart from abstinence of course. However, condoms are only effective if the are used consistantly on all ocasions, and if used correctly. Plus remember condoms will only protect the areas that are covered by the condom itself. Also, some STI's such as herpes and wart virus, are only partially preventable by condom use.
